About Buchanan Renewables

Buchanan Renewables is committed to being a highly successful growth company in the renewable resources and power business. The underlying principle of the company is to create wealth from projects that are environmentally and socially sound with special emphasis on the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Our initial focus is on making use of non-producing rubber trees in Liberia to generate electricity domestically and for export markets. By clearing and replanting rubber farms on a 30 year cycle, Buchanan creates a renewable and sustainable supply of woodchips. Our vision is to achieve success in Liberia and repeat this model in other countries in Africa and, to the extent possible, worldwide.

We intend to be the leading company in renewable resource fuel supply and renewable energy power production in the developing world.

Buchanan Renewables business

Our plantation rejuvenation program is aimed at helping independent rubber farms harvest their non-producing rubber trees and replanting their plantations. The harvested rubber tree is converted to high quality woodchips ideal for energy production or for fiber board.

The woodchips are then used for domestic electricity production as well as for serving the export market.

Our Technical Services group is focused on helping rebuild Liberia's transportation infrastructure, including by rehabilitating roads, bridges and ports.

Part of the profits of our efforts is redirected into Liberia's social programs in the form of grants.

In September 2009 the Corporate Council on Africa presented Buchanan Renewable with the annual Business Excellence in Natural Resources Development Award.
